Tamboran Resources Corporation (ASX:TBN) Achieves Major Drilling Milestone
Operational Achievements
Tamboran Resources Corporation has successfully drilled the Shenandoah South-3H (SS-3H) well to a total depth (TD) of 21,169 feet (6,452 metres) in just 25 days. This marks a significant 43% improvement in drilling speed compared to the previous SS-2H well. The drilling campaign benefited from key learnings derived from previous wells drilled earlier in the 2024 campaign.
The SS-3H well features the first usable 10,000-foot (3,048-metre) horizontal section below 8,000 feet true vertical depth for stimulation in the Beetaloo Basin. Strong gas shows and the continuation of high-quality shale and rock properties were observed along the horizontal section.
Future Development Plans
Following the completion of drilling operations, Tamboran has mobilised stimulation equipment and plans a comprehensive 100-120 stage stimulation campaign for early 1Q 2025. The SS-2H ST1 well is expected to be stimulated with up to 45 stages, and the completion design for SS-3H aims at increasing to 75 stimulated stages across the horizontal section.
Initial production (IP30) flow tests from both wells will be released in 1Q 2025, and the operations team is preparing for the remaining wells needed for the proposed Shenandoah South Pilot Project to enhance gas supply within the Northern Territory market.
CEO Comments
Joel Riddle, Managing Director and CEO of Tamboran Resources Corporation, expressed pride in the team’s accomplishment. “We are proud to have achieved the first drilled, cased and cemented 10,000-foot horizontal section below 8,000 feet TVD within the Mid Velkerri B Shale of the Beetaloo Basin to date,” Riddle stated. He further noted the full credit for the historic result belongs to the operational team, emphasising the significance of this achievement for future flow testing and the 2025 drilling program.
